The New York Chiropractic Council is fully aware of the seriousness of the pandemic of COVID-19. Governor Cuomo has declared a state of emergency and has issued numerous statements on guidance for determining whether business enterprises are subject to reduction of their workforce or to stay open. The Council has been diligently working on this and Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.6 states that essential healthcare operations, including walk-in-care health facilities, doctors and dentist’s offices as well as other healthcare services can remain open.
The Council’s opinion of this is Doctor of Chiropractic offices can remain open at the doctor’s discretion. Again, at this time, it is the decision of the doctor if they choose to remain open or not. You must consider remaining open based on your professional assessment of the needs and risks of continuing your practice. We ask that you follow all the Department of Health recommendations. https://www.health.ny.gov/.
It is the position of the Council, that the services of a Doctor of Chiropractic are essential and life sustaining especially in this time of extreme stress and we are an integral part of healthcare. Chiropractors will serve to keep other essential workers like police and other emergency workers) on the job at a time when they are needed most. We will continue to monitor the crisis and keep you informed of any changes.
Together we will stand strong and do our part during this crisis.
